Black Forest Cake
Ingredients:
- 1/2 can condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 125 grams Dinesh Flour Mills maida (about 9 tablespoons)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon drinking chocolate powder
- 1/4 cup golden syrup
- 60ml white butter or oil (about 4 tablespoons)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 5-7 tablespoons Golden syrup.
- Butter for greasing the cake tin
- Cherry or raspberry jam for layering (optional)
- Whipped cream for frosting
- Chocolate shavings or sprinkles for decoration (optional)
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a round cake tin with butter and line the bottom with parchment paper.
-
In a mixing bowl, sift together Dinesh Flour Mills maida, cocoa powder, drinking chocolate powder, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the leavening agents.
-
In another bowl, combine the condensed milk, golden syrup, white butter or oil, and vanilla essence. Mix until well combined.
-
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients while stirring continuously. Add 5-7 tablespoons of water to the batter to achieve a smooth and pourable consistency. Mix until there are no lumps and the batter is smooth.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top with a spatula.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
-
Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Golden Syrup: While the cake is cooling, prepare the golden syrup by boiling 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1/4 cup of water until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let it cool before using.
-
Once the cake has cooled, carefully slice it horizontally into two equal layers using a serrated knife.
-
Place one layer of the cake on a serving plate or cake stand. If desired, spread a thin layer of cherry or raspberry jam on top of the cake layer.
-
Using a pastry brush, generously brush the top of the cake layer with the prepared golden syrup to keep it moist.
-
Spread a layer of whipped cream over the moistened cake layer.
-
Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the process of brushing with golden syrup and spreading whipped cream.
-
Cover the top and sides of the cake with whipped cream, using a spatula to create smooth edges.
-
Decorate the cake with chocolate shavings or sprinkles, and optionally, top with fresh cherries or raspberries.
-
Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
-
Once chilled, slice and serve your delicious homemade Black Forest Cake!
Enjoy your decadent treat made with Dinesh Flour Mills Maida!
